work i'm willing to edit:

nonfiction/articles on subjects i am interested in/am knowledgable about (see my about page)

children's literature (pb, mg, ya) manuscripts/sample chapters/book proposals/cover letters for submissions, within the following genres for mg/ya: historical fiction, contemporary, fantasy, magical realism

edits i offer:

  • proofreading
  • copyediting
  • content editing
  • overall manuscript evaluation + critique

 

 

work i'm willing to write:

guest articles/blog posts on subjects i am interested in/am knowledgable about

ghostwriting? sure, depending on the project! note that higher rates may apply

content writing (trade) including backmatter, sales summaries, jacket copy

 

 

fees: generally by page (editorial) or word (written) for shorter works, by hour for longer works, with flexibility depending on the exact nature of the assignment(ex: proofreading will cost less than an overall manuscript evaluation + critique)

editorial: on average $2/page  / $30/hour

written: on average $0.20/word $40/hour

 

 

 

 

credentials:

  • member of the international association of professional writers & editors
  • four years of english/creative writing undergraduate coursework at emory university, where i read and critiqued approximately five short manuscripts a week for five full semesters
  • years of proofreading and copyediting the various textbooks written by my historian father
  • one year as an editor for my university's arts anthology
  • one year of editorial internship work for a children's publishing company; tasks included:
    • processing daily unsolicited manuscripts
    • proofreading and copyediting projects in development
    • researching and fact-checking for senior staff
    • drafting jacket copy, backmatter, and sales summaries
    • assisting on book reprinting procedures
    • presenting material for acquisition consideration
